Coenagrion mercuriale in Purbeck

12/6/2015

I attended a meeting last week looking at the plight of the Southern Damsel in Purbeck. There is now only one truly secure colony in the area. Lack of grazing and overgrown streams has brought it to this.

It was a very useful meeting; all the key players were there and it was agreed that:
  • volunteers will survey all of the known sites next season
  • contact will be made with DIO to get access to what was the best site for the beast 10 years ago but where now, it seems to have disappeared
I will keep you posted next season how this project is progressing.
