Anax imperator is the first hawker dragonfly that I think of in Iberia; you have got to admire this insect, indeed, I would be very surprised if it isn't eventually recorded from every wetland on the Peninsula. From the water tanks of Almeria through to the mountain ponds at 2,000 m there it is Anax imperator. All three species of Anax can be found in Iberia but it is A. imperator that dominates.
