Picture
My name is David Chelmick and I study dragonflies. This mess of pictures pretty much summarises me: Macromia, Oxgastra, Larvae, Cameroon. No pictures of Spain or Lestids because that is current work. I call the website Macromia Scientific, which used to be limited company but now it is just me studying dragonflies.

As from March 2019, I have made some massive changes to this website. I have hidden the blog - anything current would go on Facebook. I have added Emerald damsels because these are what now I study. I have left some of the historical stuff but got rid of things that have not progressed.

So this is what you will find (I have tried to outline dates of changes below):

  • Emerald Damselflies - My current passion many Lestid sub-pages. More changes as at May 2019
  • Dragonflies around the world - sundry foreign trips Cameroon probably most interesting
  • Dragonflies of Iberia - There is a lot here about the Peninsula; not just its dragonflies
  • The Euphyllopoda - an offshoot of Lestid study
  • Trip Reports - you can download. These are not just about dragonflies but have hints and tips and occasionally lunch!.
  • Publications - you want more detailed information you might find it in one of my papers which are listed here.

Enjoy!! There are lot of Chelmick theories in these pages some of which you may not agree with. Another purpose of this website is, therefore, to encourage you to prove me wrong!!
