Where are we now?  The current status of the Iberian Fauna

The publication of the Atlas of European Dragonflies provides the most up to date information on both the European fauna. Iberia is poorly recorded but this information is as good as it gets.

I have done some analysis of the data against climate and topographical criteria and the results make for interesting reading. In summary:
  • Species found throughout the Peninsula and in most habitats                       - 12 species
  • Species found throughout the Peninsula but restricted to specific habitats    - 22 species
  • Species recorded from fewer than 5% of squares                                          - 10  species
  • Species with restricted geographical range                                                    - 31 species

A total of 75 species for Mainland Iberia
